This workshop will address the treatment of these early negative experiences that set the foundation for the characteristic responses that continue to organize one's relational template. Participants will learn how to use EMDR to facilitate that uncoupling of negative core beliefs and core affects from positive, more adaptive aspects of self that have been depressed, dissociated, or otherwise unavailable. To this end, emphasis will be placed on conceptualizing the therapeutic process as a co-emergent one in which new relational templates are developed by actively utilizing the clients new experience of self within the context of EMDR reprocessing. Participants will be taught the art and timing of EMDR as they recognize how a case evolves and issues shift from foreground to background as well as an expanded and extended repertoire of levels of cognitive interweave strategies.
Approved for 12 credits.
