About Me
I’m a registered counsellor and EMDR Certified Therapist from Hong Kong, offering therapy in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. My personal experiences have inspired me to deepen my understanding of trauma and its related symptoms, such as anxiety and depression. I’ve dedicated myself to studying how the brain and nervous system respond to trauma, and how it can lead to changes that affect physical health, behaviour, social patterns, and our ability to cope with stress. My desire to become a counsellor grew from witnessing a close family member struggle with schizophrenia, alongside my own experiences with anxiety and relational trauma. My understanding of trauma has been crucial in helping me process these challenges, and it has guided me on a journey to build resilience after a medical trauma I experienced in recent years. I specialize in helping clients heal from traumatic or distressing experiences, primarily by utilizing Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Lifespan Integration (LI). My counselling approach is also grounded in somatic psychology, polyvagal theory, Ego States theory, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In our initial sessions, we will normally focus on history taking, assessing your needs and goals. By the end of this evaluation, I will provide you with preliminary insights into what our counselling journey may entail should you opt to proceed. This will encompass our objectives, the approaches we will employ, the approximate time investment required, and the activities involved. We may not be able to control the external events or the actions of people around us; we can choose to respond in ways that strengthen and empower us, regardless of the situation we face. It is my belief and experience that by looking inwards, we can transform the impacts of our past and create a different future and perspective for ourselves. My goal is to come alongside my clients to create conditions for healing, resilience and growth.
