About Me
Cathy Canfield, LCSW, provides psychotherapy services and complementary healing practices. Cathy works in partnership with her clients to find the approach that best fits their needs and interests. These practices allow for deep healing of anxiety, stress, trauma and to deepen one’s connection with self. Cathy is the director of Counseling of Alexandria, where she oversees a team of therapists trained in EMDR.
Education & Experience
Cathy graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with her Master of Social Work in 2005. Since then she has pursued many specialized trainings in her work with children and families (play therapy, filial therapy, EMDR with children) and treating anxiety and trauma using a mind-body approach (EMDR and nutritional counseling). She is the author of Cubby Visits the Playroom and has been featured in several publications.
