Shepherd Express Best of MKE‘s article “Mao Beckett: Decolonized, Liberation-Centered Therapy and Healing” quotes Beckett: “In every memory reprocessing session, your brain connects with different networks and naturally taps into pent-up thoughts and insights, like a free association. Your brain takes you where you’ve been ready to go, so after a session, folks will feel like they just ran a marathon.”

LAWeekly article “A Voice for the Voiceless: Inspirational Speaker Amber DiGiovanni Helps Others Find Hope” shares the transformative personal story of Amber’s journey, of which EMDR therapy “helped her process the trauma stored in her brain.” This press release also mentions DiGiovanni journey, that she “found solace and strength in EMDR therapy… which allowed her to heal from the trauma that once defined her, ignited her passion for helping others.”

The City of Austin, Texas press release “APD Victim Servces to Offer Free Training to Counselors” and KXAN news report share “The Austin Police Department (APD) has dedicated $50,000 to train local mental health counselors within the nonprofit and private sectors to provide counseling to survivors of trauma. The goal of this project is to train selected counselors in utilizing a form of therapy known as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in exchange for 50 pro bono counseling sessions for survivors of trauma as referred by APD.”

EMDRIA member Dr. Stacy Raymond, PsyD writes about dismantling the stigma around psychological trauma in law enforcement culture in Police1 article “EMDR: The Trauma Therapy For Police.” She writes: “My mission is to help officers “dump the bucket” – to offload the cumulative trauma of the job – without having to relive every painful detail. One of the most effective ways I’ve found to do that is EMDR therapy.”

The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services press release “Remembering the Oklahoma City Bombing: How ODMHSAS Transformed Trauma Recovery through Project Heartland” recounts the development of mental health services after the 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing stating “A major legacy of the [Project Heartland] program was the introduction of specialized trauma recovery training for clinicians, including EMDR, now a widely used and evidence-based method for treating PTSD and other trauma-related symptoms.”
