Bradford Gregory Parfitt, LCSW, CDCII
(He/Him)
Preferred Name: Brad
About Me
I am an LCSW, CDC II, presently working for Southeast Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) as a behavioral health clinician. I have a wide range of modalities that I am familiar and comfortable with for working with clients such as ACT, CBT, Impact Therapy, Motivational Interview, Solution Focused Therapy, and general Mindfulness. I have been in the helping professions for over 25 years and am a lifelong 3'd generation Alaskan, and who raised a 4th who is now raising the 5th generation! I enjoy the outdoors and all that entails.
Education & Experience
I am a graduate of all 3 major campuses of University of Alaska, doing my undergraduate at University of Alaska Southeast (UAS) in Juneau, and my BSW program at University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). I finished my MSW at University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). I am also an Alaska certified Chemical Dependency Counselor (CDC II). I started work in the helping professions in 2000, with an initial interest in teaching, but ended up in a teaching practicum with working therapeutic foster care youth, where I discovered the counseling profession it's perfect fit for who I am. From there I developed a love for doing wilderness therapy, especially kayaking expeditions, and did that for several years. Eventually, as a person in long term recovery from alcohol and drug abuse myself, I focused my attention on helping others with substance abuse issues and specialized in that for 12 years before again following another passion, helping people overcome trauma, which led me to EMDR.
