About Me
With 17 years of law enforcement experience and additional years in clinical counseling, I have developed a deep understanding of the unique needs of first responders. Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand how timely, effective critical incident stress management and the development of innovative peer support teams can positively impact mental health. I am committed to normalizing conversations around stress injury, trauma, and the mental health challenges faced by first responders. By utilizing evidence-based interventions, I help individuals maintain both healthy lives and sustainable careers. As an EMDR Certified Therapist with EMDRIA, I’ve witnessed the transformative power of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in supporting mental health recovery. This work is my passion, and I am honored to serve those who serve.
Education & Experience
I hold a Master's Degree in Counseling and Human Resource Development from South Dakota State University. In 2006, I moved to Oregon, where I earned my counseling license (LPC) in 2012 and became a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor III (CADCIII) with the State of Oregon. My clinical approach integrates Existential/Humanistic, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Solution-Focused Therapy, with a focus on using Motivational Interviewing as the foundation for clinical interactions. I adopt a strength-based coaching approach in therapy, helping clients tap into their own resilience and resources. I am trained in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), and the EMDR-based intervention Acute Stress Adaptive Protocol (ASAP). I am also skilled in multiple modalities to address substance use challenges, ensuring a comprehensive approach to healing.
