About Me

Mari Mari and welcome! My name is Emy I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work with a specification in Indigenous Trauma and Resiliency. Area of Specialty: Trauma, intergenerational trauma, colonial trauma, BIPOC experiences, grief and loss and addictions. Treatment Modalities/Approaches: EMDR trained, trauma informed, anti-oppressive, strength based and person centered Client Age Ranges: Eighteen- Elder hood I was born and raised in the prairies of Alberta. I have mixed ancestry that includes the indigenous of Chile, Mapuche and European, I identify as Mestiza. My life has been a long journey of healing traumatic wounds and self-discovery through indigenous holistic healing practices and western therapeutic approaches, the combination of these worlds have helped me immensely. My therapeutic approach reflects my own personal healing journey, this includes the integration of teachings passed onto me by my loved ones, mentors and Elders, while also incorporating western approaches I have studied. These worlds I work with assist in the process of holding space for folks to understand where their pain is coming from, as well as empowering individuals to connect with their own internal healing process and using this to help begin healing traumatic wounds within themselves. The years of doing trauma healing on myself, while academically studying and training in it made me realize that we are not alone in our struggles and there is a way through all the pain we hold and experience. I currently live and work in Nuu-Chah-Nulth territory. I would like to share my deepest gratitude for sharing your traditional territory with me, ƛleekoo ƛleekoo.
