Preferred Name: Joanne
About Me
Hello, my name is Joanne Platt. I am a Registered Psychotherapist. After an exciting journey as an accomplished musician, long-time educator, and parent, I found myself at a crossroads due to career-ending injuries. Struggling with life-altering changes, I decided to pursue a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP). It is because of those experiences; I want to help individuals with their mental health challenges. Using my extensive background, I provide a non-judgemental, safe, compassionate, and encouraging environment for clients to navigate and embrace their uniqueness while collaborating to find strategies that meet individual needs for those struggling with various issues. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and also an allied health professional with the Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA) and have a comprehensive understanding and a special interest in working with trauma, musicians, music industry professionals, and high performance/elite athletes. I truly believe everyone can recalibrate, use their strengths to build resilience, function more comfortably, and reach their mental health potential. I would be honoured to walk alongside you and facilitate your journey.
