About Me
I am a registered Professional Clinical Counselor with the New Zealand Association of Counselors (Membership # 88406). My commitment to ongoing education and my NZAC registration reflect my dedication to providing exceptional mental health care. I have been practicing therapy and counselling for over 15 years, offering short—and long-term therapy as needed. I am passionate about helping clients navigate life's toughest experiences, especially those facing severe challenges, crises, illness, and trauma. I work with adolescents, adults, and their families from diverse backgrounds, including first responders, nurses, police officers, and actors/writers. As a certified EMDR Therapist, I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), an effective method for processing trauma and facilitating healing. Additionally, I am trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and narrative therapy (NT). In addition to traditional therapy, I also use art and play therapy if it works for or is requested by clients. My therapeutic approach is built on a trauma-informed, person-centered foundation. I recognize that we are relational beings, and our interpersonal interactions shape our self-perception, how we view others, and our worldview. I strive to foster a collaborative, warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental atmosphere where clients can feel safe to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. The therapeutic relationship creates a valuable human connection grounded in empathy, curiosity, and honesty, allowing clients to navigate their emotional and relational challenges in a fresh and constructive light. This approach enhances self-awareness, improves relational skills, and uncovers new, more fulfilling ways to express oneself. It also allows the client to convert the insights gained from therapy into continuous, significant actions and experiences in their life.
