About Me

Feel free to go directly to my website: pathtopeacepsychotherapy.com I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and the founder of Path to Peace Psychotherapy LLC. With over 20 years of experience in private practice, I specialize in treating anxiety disorders; trauma, including PTSD; as well as developmental and attachment trauma. Adoption is a particular area of interest for me. My particular approach is collaborative with a focus of building on my client's core strengths, inner resources, including self compassion. I treat teens and adults suffering from worry, pain, and fear, often stemming from early traumatic experiences, losses and/or complicated grief. I initially focus on developing a trusting relationship, while also teaching coping strategies to help my clients better manage difficult emotions. Honesty and warmth are essential in working effectively with clients. Teens in particular know when someone is not being authentic. I take a more active approach with adults, meeting them where they are and helping them feel safe to move forward to heal. I meet you where you are, providing encouragement and support without being pushy. I balance the seriousness of your pain with compassion and a touch of humor when appropriate. I bring extensive training and years of clinical experience, combined with genuine compassion, to help you release unhelpful habits. Together, we'll work at a pace that feels safe for you, using various modalities to transform pain into growth. I utilize somatic modalities, including EMDR Therapy, Ego State Therapy, IFS, and AEDP, to help clients feel neutral toward previously triggering or traumatic situations. I also integrate sand-tray play and mindfulness into my practice. My relational approach is essential in helping clients feel safe, empowered, and hopeful about their future. I completed EMDR Therapy training over 20 years ago and am certified in EMDR. I also have extensive training and practice in Ego State Therapy, focusing on dissociated emotional parts. I am licensed to practice in Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia (telehealth only).

Education & Experience

I earned a Masters degree in Social Work from Simmons College School of Social Work (now Simmons University).
