This advanced workshop is designed for EMDR-trained clinicians who seek to deepen their capacity to deliver culturally responsive EMDR therapy to Latinx immigrant clients. Based on the Manual de EMDR para Psicoterapeutas que Trabajan con Inmigrantes Latines *(EMDR Manual for psychotherapist that work with Latinx immigrants) this training focuses on adaptations and considerations across the eight phases of EMDR to enhance client safety, stabilization, and engagement. This workshop is conducted entirely in Spanish to meet the linguistic and cultural needs of the intended clinical population.
Participants will explore cultural and migration-related dynamics that influence case conceptualization, target selection, and reprocessing. Special attention will be given to the preparation phase, where stabilization techniques are adapted to account for collective trauma, displacement, and the ongoing stressors faced by immigrant communities. Case examples and practical strategies will illustrate how clinicians can maintain cultural humility while applying the standard EMDR protocol.
